Join us for an AMA with Somya Hastekar, Principal Design & Research Manager at Microsoft. Somya will share her experiences as a design manager and offer guidance, especially for women in design. The session will cover leading teams, balancing design strategy with business goals, transitioning from hands-on work to leadership, aligning stakeholders without compromising design, and boosting productivity.
Somya has over 14 years of experience helping global and Indian products innovate, scale, and transform through Design & Research.
She is currently a Principal Design & Research Manager at Microsoft where she is leading teams to build next-gen products for collaboration and productivity.
Previously she served as Design Lead at ThoughtWorks, focusing on digital transformation and social impact. Somya has also driven IxDA’s Delhi Chapter.
With an interest in design education Somya had been been a visiting faculty at her alma mater, SPA Delhi and been jury member at institutes like NID, IIT, Pearl, IIAD and JKLU.
With a background in Architecture and Industrial Design, she continues to draw inspiration from poetics of form and space.
