In his presentation, Sarang will talk about the challenges of working with multiple scripts for brand identity and brand communication. He will give an overview of font creation process and present case-studies of custom and open-source type families.
An experienced Principal Designer, Sarang has a long history working in the design industry. A graduate of the Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, he is skilled in information Design, Typeface Design, Logo Design, Calligraphy and Typography.
In 2005, he founded ‘WhiteCrow,’ a design studio specializing in multilingual branding, custom type design, and calligraphy in Indian scripts.
Additionally, Sarang is one of the three co-founders of ‘Ek Type,’ a collaborative type foundry established in 2013 that has won multiple awards.
Ek Type focuses on creating single and multi-script fonts for Indian languages, many of which are open source and available on Google Fonts. Sarang has designed the Modak, Gotu, and Baloo (Devanagari) typefaces for Ek Type.
Sarang is also a member of the international organisation Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).
